After the success of Xperia Z, Sony on Monday launched a new device- Xperia ZR. The striking feature of this device is that it is waterproof and the device can be submerged up to 1.5 metres of depth for up to 30 minutes. The users can capture the photos and record the HD videos beneath the water. With the launch of Xperia ZR, it can be said that Sony has taken the water resistant technology to the next level.
The device in question, which is said to be the mid-range version of the flagship Xperia Z, comes with 4.6 inch HD display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 which ensures great viewing experience.
Xperia ZR is powered by 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm and includes 2 GB RAM for multitasking and faster performance and also 8 GB internal memory which can be extended up to 32 GB using micro SD card.
Xperia ZR has 13 megapixel camera with LED flash for capturing and recording the best moments of life while submerged.
The device, which carries IP55/IP58 certification, is 4G enabled and includes NFC.
The other general features in Xperia ZR includes 2300 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, micro USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and it runs on Android 4.1(Jelly Bean) platform.
The price of this device is not yet revealed and the company is expected to roll out the devices in the market in Second Quarter(Q2) of 2013.
