Don’t panic if your smartphone got wet in heavy downpour within your pocket or because of spillage of water, coffee or tea accidentally. Just follow these simple steps to see it running again. These might definitely help you to save your wet smartphone.
1. We all know that mobile phone warranties do not cover physical and water damage. There is a simple way to find whether your phone is water damaged or not. Check your battery receptacle and the battery. Handset manufacturers mostly place tiny stickers that are usually white, but the color of these stickers change to red or pink on contact with moisture inside the phones.
2. Switch off the device immediately as soon as possible after your handset gets wet. Then quickly place it on soft cloth or paper towels. Remove the back cover, battery, memory card, Sim and gently dry those. Don’t forget to remove all add-on accessories such as headphones which covers ports and slots, by doing so we expose the cover ports and slots to air.
3. Make sure that you wipe your device thoroughly with a soft cloth. If possible, use a small vacuum cleaner to draw the water out of the phone, but don’t use hair dryers. Be careful and don’t hold the vacuum too close to the device.
4. Place your handset in an air-tight container or a dry plastic bag with a desiccant such as silica gel which you can purchase in 5gm sachets from electronic stores in the market. If you cannot find these things, there is an alternate solution for it. Bury the phone in a bag or bowl of uncooked rice overnight as rice dries out the moisture.
5. Don’t be in a hurry to switch on your phone, wait for at least 24 hours. Before restarting check that your device – compartments, ports and crevices look dry and are clean.
Even after doing all these things if your phone does not boot, remove the battery and head to the service center near to you.If you do have anymore ideas, please do write in comments section and help others.
