How to set ringtone on moto e,moto g and moto x

Many Motorola smartphone users do not know that they could easily set their custom ringtone for text messages, phone calls and other notifications by following few easy steps or using other third party applications available to download in play store.But I suggest that there is no need to download any application to set a ringtone of your choice.

Do you have a file explorer/ file manager in your phone?If the answer is yes, then you need not connect your phone to PC also. If you want to download a file manager , download it from Google Play

  1. Open your file manager and then find the mp3 file or files you want to use as ringtones.
  2. Select those files and use the “Copy” option featured in the file manager and copy those files.
  3. Now navigate to the Ringtones folder in your phone’s internal storage and copy the files into that folder.
  4. Now you can exit the file manager and go directly to ringtone settings.You will find your copied files also along with the default one’s.Now it’s time to select the music of your choice and hear it whenever someone calls.

If you do not have a file manager on your phone, then follow these steps to set ringtone on moto e,moto g and moto x.

  1. First step is to get ready with all the music files you want to use as ringtone and prepare them in your PC.
  2. Now connect your phone to the computer with an USB cable.
  3. When you connect your mobile to the PC, you will find a folder called Ringtones in the phone’s internal storage.
  4. Copy all the music files you have gathered into that folder and disconnect your phone from PC.

Now you can find that your music files are available in phone ringtone settings.

Add custom message tones: To add mp3 files of your choice as custom ringtones or notifications tone, follow the above mentioned steps and check the message ringtone settings to find music of your choice.Do you know that you could use your custom ringtones as notification tones for Gmail and other mailing applications.Under notification settings for email account, just choose the ringtone of your choice.That’s it.

Set custom ringtone/different ringtone for each contact: 

  1. Open Contacts application in your device.
  2. Find the contact for which you want to change the ringtone.
  3. Tap that contact and then under ringtones, tap the option “default”.
  4. Select the ringtone of your choice and tap OK.
